ODCLASS and ODEDIT are independent but complementary arx applications to the 2011-2020 AutoCAD ® to create object-models in dwg.
Object-models - drawings/models with non-graphical object definitions and descriptive data added to graphical elements.
Descriptive data define non-graphical characteristics of objects, can describe interactions and relationships of objects, contain other information required by the user.
Object-models are more complete and versatile than graphical drawings/models and are more convenient for software processing.
All object-model information is contained in dwg as an internal database, making it extremely easy to create, use, and transfer. At the same time ODCLASS and ODEDIT use only long-standing possibilities in the AutoCAD ®, without creating special objects, proxy, etc.
Object descriptions are independent of the graphic properties of elements, generally do not change the usual work in the AutoCAD ®, and do not slow down the work with graphics.
ODCLASS is designed to create object drawings/models and define their objects property values. In doing so, ODCLASS accelerates and facilitates drafting, provides data standardization, and provides new options for selection and transformation into dwg.
ODEDIT is designed for automated definition, editing and analysis of descriptive data. ODEDIT works with descriptive data as an internal database in dwg.
ODCLASS uses description files - formalized text descriptions of the desired object types, their characteristics, and their drawing parameters. Users create their own description files or take ready-made files. Description files can play the role of standards for the content and for the models styling in AutoCAD ®.
